Pre-Tour Day 1
From Minnesota to Canterbury
Our flight to London took about 7.5 hours. We navigated through customs and the large airport concourses of Heathrow to find the correct train line. We bought our ticket to the next station and then on to Canterbury West. It took about 4 hours to get from landing to our hotel, the Fallstaff. We always take Rick's advice and get to Europe at least a day early. It does wonders to help us adjust to the time change and get over the jet lag. This trip was not different, and we spent the day walking around Canterbury and getting acclimated to England. As we walked about, we discovered some cool, old buildings and a neat flower garden area by the river. The English teacher in me got excited by the statue of Chaucer and the Canterbury visitor attraction. It feels great to be in England, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring Canterbury on the first day of our trip! |
We successfully navigated the train system to get from Heathrow Airport to Canterbury. Our first evening in England was spent casually exploring the city and walking off our jet lag. Canterbury is such a cool city!
