Day 12: Bath
Architecture and a Farewell Dinner
Today was mostly a travel day to get to Bath. We were on the road about 4.5 hours, and we got to Bath a little earlier than expected due to fairly light traffic. Upon arrival, we dropped off our bags, said a warm farewell to our bus driver, Ian, and then John gave us a walking tour. We learned about the Roman influence during the Georgian period. The circle architecture was neat. It featured curved buildings. The Roman baths are a big feature in the town since they were uncovered when a local house collapsed and the baths were discovered below. The waters are supposed to have medicinal properties. After our tour, we walked around a bit on our own as well, checking out some of the gardens. At 6:15, we left for our group dinner. We sat with Liz, John, Jane, and Jenny. |
