Rick Steves' The Best of South England in 13 DaysThis is our sixth Rick Steves' trip, and we are excited to get it started! As a former high school English teacher, this trip has particular appeal to me. There is so much literary history embedded in this area, and I'm drawn to the allure of walking on the same soil as some of the greatest writers of all time. England also plays such a dominant role in the both the past and present history of the United States. My wife, Pam, and I are excited to explore and learn more!

An Overview
Our journey begins when our flight lands in London. From there, we head to Canterbury for the start of our English adventure. Canterbury is a great destination in its own right while also being a convenient jumping off point to area attractions. We set off on our journey along the southern coast with a stop in Alfriston on our way to Salisbury. After exploring this area, including a dramatic trip to Stonehenge, we continue on to Dartmoor. We are dazzled by this unique change in scenery before heading to the Cornish coast and Cornwall. From here, we head north and take in the aura of King Arthur in Tintagel before ending our tour in Bath. Each stop is steeped in great beauty and history. Continue on through this scrapbook to dive deeper. Enjoy! |
